Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 200 United Endorses Carrie Andrews For Monroe County Legislature, 21st District

July 27th - The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 200 United has chosen to endorse Carrie Andrews for the position of Monroe County Legislator, 21st District

Andrews won the endorsement after completing an SEIU questionnaire, and going through an interview process with SEIU officials. She is seeking the Democratic Party nomination for County Legislator in a primary election set for September 13, 2005.

Andrews sought out the endorsement because health care is a major focus of her campaign. SEIU "has a commitment to health care and funding for health care institutions. And a commitment to good contracts with fair working conditions for health care employees. I share their commitment to fair and effective health care for all," she said.

SEIU Local 200 United represents many health care employees who live in the 21st District, which has boundaries roughly between Goodman Street and Culver Road on the West and East, and East Avenue and Northland Avenue on the South and North. The 21st District includes Bausch and Lomb and many small businesses, including the Public Market and Village Gate Square.

Carrie Andrews (D) is seeking her first term in the Monroe Country Legislature. She is a Labor Relations Specialist for the New York State United Teachers, representing thousands of working men and women. Andrews received a BS in Labor Relations from Cornell University and has volunteered with the United Way and Metro Justice-a local human rights organization. She seeks to maintain good neighborhood jobs, focus on accessible health care and responsive county services.
