Board Of Education Non-Teaching Employess (BENTE/AFSCME) Endorses Carrie Andrews For Monroe County Legislature, 21st District July 27th - The Board of Education Non-Teaching Employees (BENTE/AFSCME) has chosen to endorse Carrie Andrews for the position of Monroe County Legislator, 21st District. Andrews won the endorsement after going through an interview process with BENTE officials. She is seeking the Democratic Party nomination for County Legislator in a primary election set for September 13, 2005. Andrews sought out the endorsement because the education system is a major concern of her campaign. "The Board of Education Non-Teaching Employees supports good contracts for all unionized employees in the city school district." Andrews said. "They have a commitment to public education and good public schools. I share that commitment," she said. Andrews already has experience in the public education system. As an employee of New York State United Teachers, she works to help school employees, from teachers to custodians, get the best treatment for themselves and the people they serve - students and their families. Hundreds of City School employees live and/or work in the 21st District, which has boundaries roughly between Goodman Street and Culver Road on the West and East, and East Avenue and Northland Avenue on the South and North. The 21st District includes Bausch and Lomb and many small businesses, including the Public Market and Village Gate Square. Carrie Andrews (D) is seeking her first term in the Monroe Country Legislature. She is a Labor Relations Specialist for the New York State United Teachers, representing thousands of working men and women. Andrews received a BS in Labor Relations from Cornell University and has volunteered with the United Way and Metro Justice-a local human rights organization. She seeks to maintain good neighborhood jobs, focus on accessible health care and responsive county services.
