Working Families and Independence Parties Endorse Andrews

Rochester, June 20, 2005 - The Working Families Party and the Independence Party endorse Carrie Andrews as the Democratic candidate for Monroe County Legislature, 21 District. The announcement came Monday, June 20, after a competitive interview process with party members and leaders.

The Working Families Party announced its decision to support Andrews based on the following shares values and principles:

  • Support for labor, including the right to organize
  • Support for working families
  • Minimizing the privatization of public services
  • Corporate responsibility
  • Civil rights, including reproductive rights and the elimination of public funding for any organization that practices discrimination

The Independence Party is seeking fiscal responsibility and accountability of elected officials. "We believe Carrie Andrews is a qualified candidate who will represent her constituents with integrity and not bow to special interests," said Independence Party Leader.


Carrie Andrews (d) is seeking her first term in the Monroe Country Legislature. She is a Labor Relations Specialist for the New York State United Teachers union, representing thousands of working men and women. Andrews received a BS in Labor Relations from Cornell University and has volunteered with the United Way, the Rochester City School District and Metro Justice-a local human rights organization. She seeks to maintain good neighborhood jobs, focus on accessible health care and responsive county services.
