Investing in our future

As an advocate for fair wages and benefits, Carrie Andrews understands that only good jobs will keep working families here and draw young people to Monroe County. She wants to innovate and develop our infrastructure, to attract businesses and create new jobs. That's why Carrie has championed ideas like municipal Wi-Fi, to provide cheap internet access and other utilities to businesses and residents.

Carrie believes we need more jobs like those recently created by Bausch and Lomb for their Cooper-Vision Contact Lens Division.

Carrie supports local business owners in the 21st District and will work with them to grow their businesses and keep them in Rochester. She knows that our local businesses are what makes our community great and she will work hard to keep them in our neighborhoods.

Getting Our Fair Share of Resources

Carrie Andrews will help to get our fair share of funding from Albany and Monroe County to help our neighborhoods.

She Believes We Should:

  • Focus on retaining the good jobs that we currently have.
  • Support the Greater Rochester Enterprise's (GRE) efforts to talk to local businesses and help them grow right here in Rochester.
  • Demand accountability for the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency (COMIDA). COMIDA tax subsidies are intended for manufacturing, production and technology enterprises that grow our economy. COMIDA, however, has often awarded tax breaks to "big box" retailers and restaurants that create few jobs, and often fail to pay livable wages. Instead of creating jobs, this shifts employment out of the City.
  • Support a County living wage ordinance to ensure that jobs created with County funds enable families to support themselves.

Carrie fights for fair wages and good benefits each day as a labor relations specialist. A skilled negotiator for working people, Carrie will find common ground with other legislators to work in the best interests of our neighborhoods and Monroe County.

Carrie Andrews knows what to fight for, and knows how to fight for it.
