Everyone Deserves Decent Health Care!
Carrie Andrews fights for health benefits for working people every day as a labor relations specialist. She knows that health care costs are skyrocketing and that many families don't have health care coverage, and she's committed to affordable and accessible health care for all. She knows that:
- Lead poisoning not only affects the physical health of children, it affects their academic success and social behavior.
- Families without health insurance pay only about one third of the costs of their health care - families with health insurance pay much of the remaining costs in higher insurance premiums. It's a bad deal for all of us.
Carrie Wants Our Fair Share of County Resources for Health Care
Carrie will oppose Republican attempts to slash services and restrict access to Medicaid - efforts that will only deny needed services, increase the number of uninsured families, and overburden caseworkers. To save costs, the County should consider options that work in other communities like importing drugs from Canada. She will also push to expand the County's pilot lead abatement program, to test housing and make it safe before it poisons children.
